What We Believe

-
La Mesa Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a Reformed Christian tradition that affirms God's grace, values thoughtful faith, seeks justice for all, and encourages us to continually reform our lives and ministries according to God's call.
-
At La Mesa Presbyterian Church, we believe that God is revealed to us through Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection show us the depth of God's love for the world. Guided by Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to grow in faith, worship God with joy, and follow Christ on our pilgrimage of faith, loving our neighbors and God as we pursue justice, and serve one another with compassion.
-
We believe that every person is created in God's image and is beloved by God. Therefore, we welcome everyone into worship and the life of our congregation. We invite into full participation all who profess faith in Jesus Christ, regardless of age, race, national origin, gender identity, sexual or affectional orientation, physical or mental challenge, or economic status.
-
Our name, La Mesa—"The Table"—expresses our vision of Christian community. Around God's table, barriers are broken down, hospitality is extended, children are nurtured, learning is valued, community is created and people are fed. Here, all are invited to experience God's grace and love.
-
As followers of Christ on a pilgrimage of faith, we seek to further God's unfolding reign of justice, peace, and compassion. Nourished by worship and fellowship, we go forth as joyful disciples to serve God in our congregation, in the diverse International District of Albuquerque, and throughout the world.
