Meet Our Staff

Rev. Dr. Brett Mitchell serves as pastor of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. A teacher, writer, speaker, and pilgrimage leader, Brett is passionate about helping people deepen their faith and discover God's presence in everyday life. He has authored ten books and has spent much of his ministry fostering inclusive communities where all people are welcomed and valued. When not serving the church, Brett enjoys art, dragon boat paddling, pets, and time with his children and grandchilder, as well as his spouse Christian Halstead.

Eliya Martinez joined the La Mesa Presbyterian Church staff in 2022 and serves as Office Administrator. A lifelong Albuquerque resident, she brings experience from both the medical and insurance fields, along with a passion for helping people and keeping things running smoothly. Eliya and her husband, Patrick, have two children and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, exploring new culinary adventures, and attending country music concerts.

Roxie Bradley serves as Food Pantry Lead and has dedicated many years to helping people experiencing food insecurity. Alongside her late husband, Van, she helped lead La Mesa’s Project Share ministry and continues to play a vital role in the church’s outreach efforts. Roxie brings valuable experience in communication, training, and organizational leadership from her career as a licensed clinical laboratory scientist. She is committed to serving the community with compassion, respect, and care.

Yatziri Gonzalez serves as Youth Leader at La Mesa Presbyterian Church and has been part of the church staff since 2017. She is passionate about working with children and youth, helping them grow in confidence, creativity, and faith. Through Kids’ Club and Arts Academy, Yatziri has shared her talents by teaching Ballet Folklórico, drama, and beading classes. Having recently completed her nursing degree, she is beginning her career in pediatric nursing while continuing her commitment to supporting and encouraging young people.

Ken Morgan has served as Facilities Manager at La Mesa Presbyterian Church since 2008 and has been part of the congregation since 1997. After serving in the United States Air Force and building a career in electronics and engineering, Ken brought his technical skills and dedication to service to the church. His work with La Mesa’s ministries has strengthened his commitment to supporting immigrants, Native Americans, people with disabilities, and others facing challenges, reflecting the church’s mission of compassion, justice, and community.

Rev. Dr. Rich Holmes serves as Parish Associate at La Mesa Presbyterian Church. A minister, teacher, and lifelong student of philosophy and faith, Rich enjoys helping people explore life's big questions and deepen their spiritual understanding. He and his wife Kelly are both educators in Albuquerque and are proud parents of Sophia and Dominic. Their household also includes two beloved dogs, Amelia and Zorro.

Mike Boring has served as Music Director at La Mesa Presbyterian Church since 2022. A talented pianist, accompanist, and choral musician, Mike brings a deep love of music and worship to the congregation. Originally from Kansas, he and his husband, George, made Albuquerque their home in 2016. In addition to his work at La Mesa, Mike serves as pianist for the Bosque School performing arts department and the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus. He enjoys helping people experience community, joy, and inspiration through music.

Since 2006, Meghan Armstrong has served as Bookkeeper for La Mesa Presbyterian Church, providing trusted financial and administrative support to the congregation. In addition to her work with the church, Meghan is a Certified Financial Social Work Educator who is passionate about helping people build financial confidence and well-being. She and her husband, Justin, are parents to two young children and enjoy traveling, hiking, dancing, and making family memories together.
