Kid's Club - Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM during the school year
This is a mid-week Bible study and activity time for children from the surrounding neighborhood and church membership. Kid's Club is for young people from pre-schoolers to high schoolers. For elementary children, Kid's Club includes recreation, music, Bible study, crafts, and snack time. The curriculum is theologically progressive in nature, varies from year to year. Much of it is written by Winona Poole, the Director of Family Ministries. The pre-schoolers meet with Debbie Flores and utilize the Buzz Curriculum from Group. The senior high and mid-high youth groups meet as well. Snack time is shared together and there is a meal where parents are invited once a month.
Vacation Bible School - June evening at Menaul School
An award winning inter-generational VBS program created and enjoyed by four Presbyterian congregations together. Located at Menaul School, a private Presbyterian secondary school, the VBS meets outside in small groups, called "tribes," under tents. Using the Group model of reenacting a Biblical time period, the VBS features costumes, tents, animals, period games and foods, interactive music, and a marketplace where the kids make or buy "good" with their pretend money.
Summer Kid's Club, Wednesdays, 5:30 - 8:30 PM
Summer Kid's Club started as the Garden Club. It is all ages, with the youth working with adult sponsors in leadership roles. Activities include recreation and games, movies, theme nights, cooking, and most of all GARDENING! The La Mesa Children's Garden, behind the church, is a great place to get close to God's earth and learn Biblical truths from nature in a very hands-on way. Vegetables are grown and harvested and brought to worship as an offering on Sunday mornings. The vegetables are shared with people with food needs though the La Mesa Food Pantry. There are also field trips for swimming, skating, hiking, and camping at Sandia Conference Grounds in the Sandia Mountains.
